How we test portable monitors
Protocol version 1.0 ·
Every review on DeskExpander follows a written, versioned protocol. When it changes, the version number changes and the affected reviews say so.
Two review types, always labelled
Hands-on tested
The product was bought and used by the author in daily work. Usage findings (setup, mounting, stability, comfort) come from that real use.
Research-based analysis
We do not have the product. The review relies on the manufacturer's official specs, published user feedback and other sites' reviews, all linked. No measurement is presented as our own.
Equipment
- The author's everyday workstation (photos below).
- The author's computers and cables; the exact model is stated in the review when it matters.
- Colorimeter and light meter: not used yet. Brightness and colour values stay "Not measured" until they are actually measured.
Criteria and score weighting
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Image qualityBrightness, colour, uniformity, reflections. | 25 % |

| Value for moneyObserved price against the other criteria. | 10 % |
This grid draws on methods published by major review sites and the problems users report most (weight, mounting, heat, compatibility). A score is only published once the author has rated every criterion; user reviews are never turned into numbers.
The test bench

Photos of the measurement bench will be added when the first instrumented measurements are made.
